A new jacket from Sitka Studio is a masterclass in combining cutting edge technology with timeless style. And it’s probably less than half the price you think it’s going to be.
I just sold my Arcteryx Thorium to replace with this. The thorium was good but with 750 fill and no windstopper I found that without perfect layering I was getting cold around 20 degrees which wasn’t ideal. Now I’m wondering if I made a mistake. Seems like this jacket will burn you out unless it’s in the negative temperatures. Fingers crossed I didn’t make a mistake :/
I was eyeing this, but can’t figure out a gap in my wardrobe to excuse a purchase. I have cold weather hunting jackets, ski jackets, and outdoor jackets (plus a decade old Canada goose bomber that’s served me well). Is this able to replace multiples of those, or is it limited to primarily casual wear?
I mean it's matte black, it's not a hunting jacket. It's a very warm, very practical jacket for wearing around town, out to dinner, while traveling, etc. You could totally wear it skiing, but might find a layered ski shell more practical. Buy it instead of a giant parka, it'll actually work better in extreme cold, be easier to take with you, and look way less dumb.
Thanks. Yeah, unfortunately I already have those pieces covered and, as much as I love Sitka and the Sitka Studio ethos, I just can’t justify another purchase for the sake of a cool looking jacket.
Maybe if I didn’t already own a blueberry blue CG bomber I got on sale for $300 — but at this point I’ve just embraced looking like an idiot if it’s cold enough to wear it!
Weird time of year for this launch when everything winter related is going on end of season sales
I don't think this is a piece you're going to see on sale any time soon.
I just meant that it’s the tail end of the season, I may have been a buyer in Nov/early Dec instead of this Stormwhisperer I bought.
Hold on… dibs on the large??? 😬
I really should do some subscriber giveaways, huh?
Well it’s not like you have a lot of gear…

I think you'll be ok. It's obviously not thin layer, but it is a very versatile one. Let us all know what you think of it when you get it.

Wow, you got a CG coat for what ones actually worth!
I’ll trade it to you for that large Sitka jacket… I’m sure Connor will be just as happy!
