Definitely interested in input from readers on this one. Are there any other points we can add to The Plan? What resources should we create to make this as easy as possible for people to participate in? What does a campaign that corporations could sign onto look like?

Good well written piece. Yes, I too remember the AWNR oil sale fizzling out due to no interest and hopefully much the same can happen with these current issues. In literally today's news, one gets the feeling that much of the world is standing up to tRUMP and is realizing he is a paper tiger, though hopefully that doesn't embolden the vile snake Putin to try something even more brazen than what he's currently doing in Ukraine.

I am a former FEMA project reviewer with NEPA process experience. I would include language for any project area MUST have ‘no adverse impacts’ to the project area being proposed. If these areas are not CATEXED, then an EA or EIS MUST be preformed. Use prior case studies of projects gone wrong when this is bypassed. There are examples out there. Here is the FEMA NEPA process. These were streamlined processes…. https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/practitioners/environmental-historic/laws/nepa

We also has a merged process for USACE, USFW and others…. Let me know if you need anything else. Also, we MUST have open comment period for EVERY change. Unless they want to bypass that too and we cannot allow that.

I am a retired trial lawyer with extensive NEPA experience, as well as having represented a number of sawmills and oil and gas operators for many years. Miners and oil drillers will not apply for permits unless the economics are right, with some reasonable certainty for the future. The Trump administration is pretending that it can write new procedures and ignore statutes. Approvals without statutory compliance will generate litigation. However, I think it is careless to advocate litigation simply as a weapon to slow things down; public perceptions could be negative to the litigants. Only file suit when the merits are strong.

Totally. To be clear: I'm not advocating for frivolous lawsuits, I'm acknowledging that Mitch McConnell was successful at replacing much of the federal bench with white supremacists, Christian nationalists, outright Nazis, and other forms of far right, anti-American whackadoodle. In that environment, a good case may not win on merit every time, but is still a worthwhile effort.
