Seems kind of fishy that no land in Montana, home of Steve Daines, is included in this sale. Keep that in mind.

Looks like li'l Steve bargained with Lee to save his own skin in the mid terms. Here's hoping it backfires royally.

I'm flooding this information on social media to get people to call their senators ASAP! Feel free to use this script to call and write your senators!

These lands? At risk for sale! Our couples, outdoor enthusiasts? Out of luck unless we all take action and start calling our senators.

Senators Mike Lee + Steve Daines proposed a bill to sell off 3 million acres of lands out west.

HELL NO to selling off our public lands.

CALL YOUR SENATORS ASAP! (202) 224-3121 #NOTFORSALE

I’m writing as your constituent to urge you to stand against Senator Mike Lee’s dangerous proposal to sell off 3 million acres of public land through the Senate budget process.

This proposal—buried in a nonbinding resolution—is nothing short of a fire sale of our shared natural heritage. These lands are not “excess.” They are vital for conservation, cultural history, wildlife habitat, clean water, carbon storage, outdoor recreation, and the health and well-being of future generations.

The idea that states can manage these lands better is a myth. State agencies are underfunded and often forced to sell land to private developers to make ends meet. We’ve seen this pattern before, and it ends in permanent loss.

This is not about “local control.” It’s about political allies and billionaire developers gaining private access to what belongs to all Americans.

Please speak out and vote against any measure that enables or encourages the disposal of federal public lands. I urge you to support full funding for land stewardship and oppose efforts that dismantle public land protections under the radar.

We need you to protect what cannot be replaced.

Any ideas for what to do other than call our senators and bang our heads against the wall?

Keep calling. Senator Crapo's (ID) office just released a statement stating that he is opposed to the proposal. I have been asking everyone I know in my state of Idaho to call their Senators. We will stop this absurdity yet.

It can't hurt to call any Republican House members in your state as well. In the event that the Senate does vote to pass the reconciliation bill with this proposal, it would go back to the House.

This vote could come as early as June 22nd, so it's critical that we get the word out because people are so inundated with other things in the deluge of the news that it's become obscured.

I think we need to "flood the zone" by 1) calling our local media outlets to urge them to immediately report on this proposal for the massive sell-off of our public lands without any public hearings or input 2) email and call our local Congressman and Senators and ask them to perform civil disobedience (aka Cory Booker's 25-hour speech) to make national news 3) fire up recreationalists from all facets of the outdoor industry.

Public lands are all of our lands and they are one of the best gifts our country has, not to mention that they are critical wildlife areas in the urbanization creep. Also...think about the increased wildfire risk when there's huge amounts of WUI from housing development, particularly worrisome because of the dissolvement of the US Forest Service and the egress of many fire fighters, particularly experienced leadership. Theodore Roosevelt, who is credited for preserving 230 million acres of public lands, is rolling over in his grave.
