Good piece, thanks Wes. Folks need to call their House Rep and ask them to approach Speaker Johnson to have him remove the selloff piece from the larger house package. Johnson can do that. People in North Carolina, Idaho, Maine, and Montana need call call Daines (and Sheehy), Risch, Tillis, and Collins several times over the coming weeks to ask them to protect the senate version from public lands selloffs.
Keep tying together the threads for the people, Wes! Thank you!
Ya I get GOP. And that we should all put pressure on our representatives. But there also must be data where some GOP reps are getting more of their base to turn and question this administration. Where they may be seeing the red turn toward blue…
Idk, I’m curious to see that data or have it created.
That would be really useful. I don’t know of a way to do that, but then again I don’t know very much. I will start asking around beginning with the resistance group I joined.
Unbelievably, Zinke is probably number one. Then Don Bacon. I have a list of other GOP Representatives who voted with environmental causes at least 10% of the time in the preceding session:
1. Chris Smith (NJ)
2. Rob Wittman (TX)
3. Morgan Griffith (VA)
4. Andy Harris (MD)
5. Vern Buchanan (FL)
6. Gus Bilirakis (FL)
7. Joe Wilson (SC)
8. Dan Webster (FL)
9. Mario Diaz-Balart (FL)
10. Mike Turner (OH)
11. Brett Guthrie (KY)
12. Bill Huizenga (MI)
13. Dave Schweikert (AZ)
14. Steve Womack (AR)
15. Adrian Smith (NE)
16. Robert Aderholt (AL)
17. Mike Rogers (AL)
18. Glenn Thompson (PA)
19. Mike Kelly (PA)
20. Mike Simpson (ID)
21. Dan Newhouse (WA)
22. David Valadao (CA)
The odds are still low but it is still worth pressuring these individuals to stand up and grow a spine. I know at least Mike Simpson quietly co-sponsored Zinke’s bill to prohibit the unauthorized sale of federal land… perhaps he might be able to be swayed.

The land grab requires this change to the ESA. Without they are stuck in the water and they know it.

9.5 on an infuriation scale of 10. Those sneaky little Republican devils! Lots of us would love to run the lot of them barefoot over Cactus Mesa. They obviously like using their brains to concoct all kinds of devious schemes to sell off public lands for their billionaire friends tax cuts. Let's stick them on top the Fisher Towers in SE Utah and see how they scheme their way down to the bottom. That first step is a doozy!
Republican Politicians are still finding creative wa s to pay the tax cuts of those needy billionaires. I think a bill should be passed for the Uber rich to pay triple taxes till they catch up with all the years they got away with paying nothing.
It's about damned time. So much government owned wasted space and taxpayer money. Let the private sector make the best use of the land without the bureaucracy, I say.
Did you even read the article? e.g., "The Bureau of Land Management has an annual budget of only $1.3 billion, but activities it manages generate $252.1 billion each year. Every dollar that taxpayers spend on the BLM creates $194 for the economy." And once these lands are sold, our country will never get them back.
Mark, I generally don’t like to raise the heat of discussion, but I want you to know that I hope you get deported. Perhaps living in Somalia could teach you about the value of a polity without government bureaucracy.
Let’s do a Nat’l Park GoFund—we outbid the developers.
It's a great idea- but i d ont think they will sell to us. They want to sell to oligarchs and people who will make big money off the land.

Fundraiser--Save Our Parks!
So we resist now by calling on our senators not to pass the budget? Is there anything we can do?
Yeah, if we can peel off 4 votes it won't pass.
Which four representatives do you think can be swayed??? That info could be so helpful and then energy can be targeted and organized.
*Four GOP Senators. I'd start with your own.

What is the next step in the process of approval vs defeat of the proposal
Full house vote on the budget proposal as a whole.
When is the vote?
I'll let you know once I know.
