If 3 million acres wasn't bad enough, now we have 120 million acres. WTF, this is a fire sale of mass destruction.

This is just the map I've been wanting, thank you for posting.

I hate these f*ckers so much. Montana will probably be on the chopping block once Daines secures his next term. F*ck f*ck f*ck. The poor media coverage has left people I know, believing he and the other fools are no longer for selling public lands. I keep saying it’s all part of the intentional word salad. They’ll never be on the side of public lands belonging to us.

Daines is a NIMBY d-bag.

C’mon, Montana—call him out!!

Thank you for turning on the floodlights here

Did I read the revenue correctly? $5-10 billion over 10 years? Is this net, sans lost revenue from the land sold? And doesn’t anyone understand that a mean value of $1 billion per year (or less) is nothing on the scale of our annual expenditures? It’s 1/800th or less of the US military budget.

The House passed a rule in January so that no losses to ongoing revenue need be considered in tabulating revenue from selling public lands: https://wessiler.substack.com/p/house-gop-sets-stage-for-public-lands?utm_source=publication-search

Clear evidence that this is about political favors, not balancing or reducing the budget.

There’s a lot of trees to be cut, mountains to be scared by mining, land scraped for developments, and ranchers losing grazing land. But hey, we’ll be making more millionaires and billionaires. Who needs a beautiful country? This makes me livid.

Can somebody make a story map version so we can post pics of these places? To give a better idea of what's at stake?

Thanks for fighting the good fight, Wes. In addition to contacting our Senators and donating to orgs such as the Wilderness Society and Nature Conservancy, what are some other concrete steps you suggest?

Upgrade to a paid subscription to this newsletter, and support my ability to speak truth to power. Stories like this one are no longer able to exist in mainstream, corporate media. If we want journalism to continue to exist, and continue to change minds around topics we care about, we need to each do what it takes to financially support that.

This is so there is more land to build affordable housing. No one is stealing the land. Do you realize there are taxes especially in california, that charge as much in sub taxes as the property cost. Wake up and see this is a good thing

That's just fascist propaganda, as I explained at length here: https://wessiler.substack.com/p/bullshit-doug-burgum-giving-away

Remember: the purpose of the GOP is to steal from the poor to give to the rich. Because there aren't enough rich people to win elections, they rely on hoodwinking people using lies and hatred.

It’s unlikely that the land that is marked for sale is in the right location, feasibly, for housing.

I believe that's just a case of copy/pasting the link.

Okay, THIS map is a bit more believable than some I've been seeing (not only is the Eagle Cap Wilderness wilderness, but...there's a lot of rocks and dirt there). Still not good.
