Great informative read, tell ya what, me just being honest this doesn’t surprise me as when I saw the 300 series and to my sad crying eyes they removed the fold down rear tailgate. I was about to sell my 100 series right there! Why would Toyota mess with something like that? Geesh!
They typically mount the bottom of the frame rail, just behind its front lip. But yeah, they'll need to be extra long or pokey in order to be accessible behind all that plastic.
I used to sell Hyundai's and one model had a front tow hook that screwed into the frame after you took the little plastic "door" off and revealed the hole. It was pretty substantial eye bolt but couldn't have been more than a few dollars. Good read.

even my Miata has those ...
Where could aftermarket recovery point possibly go, if there's nothing on the body of the vehicle to attach it?

Not knowing much about trucks, why would they omit the front recovery point? Is there a substantial cost savings or just boneheaded design?
Who knows. Corporate robots don't provide human animals. I'd imagine the cost on one is virtually nothing.
Err, answers not animals.
