Fight for them as they need us more now than ever. I worked in Yellowstone National Park during my college summers so I have lived in one and worked, backpacked and respected it. Time for action is now.
Let me suggest to everyone following Wes that you also sign on to Indivisible (indivisible.org). They are one of the two or three primary groups behind the 1300+ protests held across the country (and even the world) on April 5, involving over 3 million peaceful demonstrators. The group was founded by Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg and has been in existence since 2016.
Every Thursday, Ezra and Leah host an hour-long YouTube Live to talk about where things stand and what the plans are; about 45 minutes of the hour is devoted to responding to questions posted by people who are on the call. They emphasize that this group is all about taking strategic, concerted, NONVIOLENT action and that the leaders are dispersed across over 1500 Indivisible groups located in every U.S. state and territory and many foreign countries; they also work cooperatively with well over 100 other activist groups and alliances.
The focus on NONVIOLENCE and on decentralized, dispersed leadership is key to stopping the regime that is currently working to dismantle our country and ignore our Constitution. I have grown to believe that the growing coalition of peaceful resistance fighters will enable the return of our country to the people ("of the people, by the people, and for the people").
The sooner the American people come together to demonstrate their power PEACEFULLY (which is not the same thing as "passively"), the sooner we will be able to stop things like the sell-off and abuse of our national lands.
I absolutely second Jamari's recommendation! I have sat in on two recent weekly "what's next" virtual group meetings with Indivisible. (In addition to attending a number of rallies/events sponsored by two different local Indivisible chapters) Ezra & Leah are experienced grassroots organizers, extremely welcoming, motivational but also pragmatic, and yes, absolutely committed to mass NONVIOLENT action.
One thing that stick out to me here is: "4. Ensuring the appropriate transfer of funds, programs, records, and property, as well as taking required personnel actions, to carry out the consolidation.”
Giving DOGE the authority to transfer property could allow it to sell off or give away tracts of public land (BLM and Wildlife Refuges, since this is DOI), which DOI can do for sections of up to 2500 acres without express Congressional authorization.
To simplify that completely, the Interior Secretary just gave Elon Musk and his stooges the authority to sell or give away your public land.
NO! Was depressed about this thought but now just pissed off about it actually happening! We have got to start a revolution to take back our government, democracy and freedom from the kleptocrats!
A few days ago, the Resistance Rangers website dropped the language about pro NPS rallies on April 22 (Earth Day) with details TBD and replaced it with a general encouragement to join in existing local April 19th rallies, which are largely being hosted by select chapters of 50501 and Indivisible (i.e., not a coordinated nationwide effort in the vein of April 5th Hands Off rallies.)
This sounds like it’s up to the American people to stop the hostile auto-coup of DOGE and the current administration given the lame duck status of the Congress. And the courts, I hope. And if the courts, I wonder how the rulings will be enforced. This MUST be stopped. We NEED to stop this before they turn us into Mordor. Plus the news about the PIHMNM! 😡 This outright plundering needs to be stopped but where are the breaks to stop the illegal acts when our constitution is in crisis and when our main checks and balances don’t work?
They are taking over the public lands for EXTRACTION of oil, gas and minerals for the direct benefit of the Broligarchy-that is the bros billionaires and corporations who will PROFIT. Don’t be fooled by Doge’s BS, it’s a land grab for profit. Stand up to this now!!
As was pointed out so well above by Jamari,it is imperative that we join and actively participate in the resistance movement. Find your local groups then join.Assist in logistics, planning, and execution of those plans. Coordinate with other groups. Amplify your voice and your power.
Lots of things that could be sold in Yosemite alone: Half Dome. The water in Yosemite Falls. The mist from Bridalveil falls (brides only). Plus all that wilderness! Step right up rich people and you can own America!
