No radio communication is going to be safe from the federal government. And encrypted radios cost $3k plus, each. There's a reason I'm not recommending them.
Remove any fingerprint or face recognition from your phone, and enable pin access only. Then use end-to-end encrypted comms like Signal or Proton. It's not a perfect approach, but it is the right solution for most people.
Dude I hear you. I wrote this on an Apple computer, I'm relying to this comment on a Google phone. Both are connected via Starlink. Substack is part-owned by Andreessen Horowitz...I don't imagine there's a lot of PPE available from companies with zero ties to the defense industrial complex, genocide, or the White House ballroom.
Both subscriptions and affiliate are the most reader-oriented business models available to journalists. And a girl's gotta earn money in this economy.
See my response below. I'd love to divest too, but I'm not sure how possible that is. 3m, for instance, is one of the chief offenders on pfas pollution. And I couldn't respond to this comment if it wasnt for Starlink.
Very helpful advice, added this up, and of course a total is variable depending on choosing higher range or lower, but 997.00 is kind of a ballpark total. Necessary equipment of course but it is not an inconsequential amount for the average citizen. Compared to unprepared and injured of course it’s a wise investment.
Also thinking about this I’ve read about the frequent mishandling of weapons that are supposedly “not lethal”, as in discharging at closer range than manufacture’s guidelines causing serious injuries. So perhaps even an abundance of preparedness/caution can be somewhat rendered inadequate or in need of extra equipment if that is the situation. Maybe a Kevlar vest would be helpful and possibly a helmet? Even gaiters like a lumberjack wears or gardeners who are familiar with rattlesnakes might be useful. Writing this sounds overkill but quite frankly given the way things are going and escalating to include observers, it may very well be better to gather the equipment now.
This is so helpful! Special thanks for the photos. Good luck everyone.
Thank you! I have not seen this anywhere else. I like that you are recommending items with personal knowledge and expertise.
With the other person's comment maybe someone will fund safe radios.

Thanks this is great information I will share with many others. As always, you are looking ahead and totally preparing us for more sad things coming.
I shared this in several groups... I will message Wes how I introed it.
Thanks Joe.
If anyone has any further suggestions, I'm all ears!

It would be nice if there other retailers to buy this stuff from other than Amazon. I am trying to cut that cord. Thanks for the info.

I get it. But $997 is also about the same price as a full face gas mask alone.
Re: bullet proof vests. You're better off just running away if someone starts shooting. They're heavy, hot, and very pricey.
I don't get the snake gaiter thing.
