This is so uncalled for. They did the same thing to the nurses at the VA.

As somebody observing this from across the pond, who works in the outdoor industry, it’s baffling to me how silent so many are on this topic. Well, and everything else too, of course.

Since Wes is taking a moratorium on swearing, I'll step up.

As with any group, there must be a number of wild hairs onboard the DOI who will take full offense with this appalling, pathetic order and who, despite needing the job, will respond along these lines:

Olah Mr Fukface von Clownstick; Um no, I will not be writing a f'g resume to keep my job. Zackly who in the fug on god's sweet green earth do you think you are? You're a joke, yes that's been established but no indeed, you aint gonna fuk with this lumberjack. Gonna keep it simple here just for you. Take this job and shove it. Fuggin useless prick, sir. And btw, your boss tRUMP, looks like the pendulum is starting to swing back. He bullied some folks in NYC and Joisey to build a couple monoliths back in the day but now the whole world, for better or worse, is seeing he's a clueless paper tiger. A legit buffoon. So yeah no, I'm out despite that I'm needed. I 'spose, after the shit hits the fan for 2 weeks and you begin the rehiring process, if you triple my pay, retroactively, I'll climb back aboard but know that if I see your ugly mug anywhere down the line, well, Karma.

Been dreading something like this. My sister in law works for the US Geological Survey. They were jerked around pretty bad last time Dump was in office. She mainly researches soil and substrate composition in drought and fire prone environments, Sequoia National Park most recently. Her department is also involved with rare earth and oil discovery so maybe she'll be "rehired." I imagine it becomes a difficult ethical decision to continue working under this so called administration and their objectives. Literally reapplying to join the dark side in hopes the rebellion takes over in the future. I'll be sure to reply if I hear any noteworthy updates from them.

The second hand update is she has heard nothing from leadership. The project she is managing has been halted by staff cuts. She went to plant trees in a Sequoia National Park burn scar and there was no one to help. On person showed up pro bono publico saying, "they're not going to stop me from doing whats right." Not looking good.

I recently retired from DOI after 30 years (several years before I’d planned) and worry about the loss of institutional knowledge and irreplaceable scientific and historical data. I worked for most of my career on natural resource issues affecting American Indians and know the importance of federal funding and technical assistance to tribes, especially the smaller tribes. This will hit them the hardest.

Wes, thank you for your continued reporting. It's so important. As we all take in article after article of more information of what is destroying the fabric of our Nation, our Democracy, our amazing public lands, our relationship with our neighbors, our safety and so on... it is impossible not to feel helpless. I ask that perhaps at the end of your pieces you help us know what to do, what actions we can take and need to take (i know your last article mentions a few things but I'm requesting consistent mentioning of actions to take). Help inspire us. And empower us to take bolder and more radicle actions. Calling our Reps over and over is not enough. Are we each prepared to close our computers and go show up in real life to protect our national parks? To stand with the NPS and Indian Affair employees? To go beyond the cute one hour protest to actually do and stand for something???
