Helping everyone go further outdoors.
A high-quality community that will enable all of us to better enjoy our time outside.
I respond to dozens of questions from readers (related to my work in Outside and other publications) nearly every single day. By organizing those questions and their answers into an irregular newsletter, my hope is to create not just an opportunity for more people to benefit from them, but also a high-quality community around the topics of my articles and videos.
Online communities (traditionally, comment sections) have the potential to add a ton of value to journalism. They can add depth and context to stories, provide alternative viewpoints, and help make my work stronger by furthering my understanding of who is reading, and how. But, with the loudest voices dominating discourse on social media platforms in recent years, that value has been lost. It’s my sincere hope that establishing my own community, and holding it to my own standards of transparency and honesty, we can all create the kind of conversations we want to participate in.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
